“Wendell Beavers, who has also been around for some time, performed his solo, Freeing the Dura, moving with beautiful fluidity and weight, as in touch with the earth as a Thomas Hardy charac-ter. The celestial Albinoni Adagio in G minor should be declared off-limits to choreographers by now, it’s been so overused, but it suited Beavers’s idea of reaching the ecstatic through attentive travails of the flesh. (The dura mater is one of the layers covering the brain and spine; Beavers is an explorer of Body Mind Centering.)”
